Battling a yeast infection is no fun at all. Oddly enough, up to 75% of women have battled a yeast infection at least once. Let’s not forget, even men too can have yeast infections.

Over the years, I have had my fair share of yeast infections (mainly because of being on oral contraceptives for so long).
I have learned to truly understand the root cause of yeast infections, and how to be proactive in my healthcare versus reactive. Read my full article The Ultimate Yeast Infection Guidebook for an overview.

Due to the enormous questions around how I keep my vagina in tip-top health, I decided to write this HOME REMEDIES TO CURE A YEAST INFECTION GUIDEBOOK.

So if you’re looking to change your relationship with your friend down south, then keep on reading.

Today, I am going to share with you all my home remedies to cure a yeast infection and my self-care routine, that has allowed me to be yeast infection free for over a year at the time of this writing. I am going to explain the process I took to rid my yeast overgrowth, and how I maintain my body on a daily basis.

I promise you, there are home remedies to cure a yeast infection that work, you just have to be patient and take the time to understand your body.

Two years ago I went to a specialist to help me with my chronic yeast infections. After a few tests, she determined that I had a Candida overgrowth.

Candida what?

Candida is essentially is an overgrowth of yeast in your body, that can have some serious side effects. Check out my Candida Guidebook & Checklist for a list of candida overgrowth symptoms.

The specialist told me that I needed to cleanse my body from the overgrowth of yeast. Once that was complete, I would then need to build up the “good gut bacteria”, that would keep my body healthy and prevent a recurring overgrowth of yeast.

What was her remedy home remedies to cure a yeast infection?

Two weeks of drinking only bone broth. Yes, the liquid gold from your granny’s chicken noodle soup. She told me that bone broth is easy on the digestive system and will start the process of healing my intestinal membrane and restoring balance to in my gut.

So the process began.

I was restricted to 4 cups of bone broth per day and water. Now the key to making this work is making sure that you are consuming pure bone broth. Whether it comes from vegetables, chicken or beef is insignificant. You want to make sure that you’re consuming broth that is made with organic product and meat.

I tried making my own broth at home, and let’s say it was a disaster. So I decided to order ready-made bone broth from a reputable source. My doctor suggested I order from Kettle & Fire.

I order both beef and chicken broth. I liked the chicken broth the most. It was very tasty, and I never got sick of sipping it (although I missed chewing)

I will spare you the details of my cleanse. But, what I will say is that not eating was really hard for me. Also because you’re consuming very little calories you feel tired and weak initially. I was advised not to work out or do any activities that are labor intensive.

After two weeks of liquid gold, I was astonished by the changes:

⇒ I lost seven pounds (naturally because my calorie intake was cut in half)
⇒ My blemishes disappeared on my face
⇒ I had an abundance of energy
⇒ My skin was glowing
⇒ I no longer had a bloated belly
⇒ My yeast infection cleared

I decided to continue with the bone broth for another week, just to be sure that all the yeast was purged from my system. I would recommend you consult with your doctor before doing this cleanse.

After my cleanse was complete, my doctor suggested I take probiotics on a daily basis, to keep my gut happy. She also encouraged me to eat probiotic-rich foods only for the first week, to build up healthy gut bacteria. I ate things kefir, sauerkraut, and kombucha.

Below is a list of the brands that I use, with amazing success:

Now that we have talked about the internal products I consume to keep me yeast infection free, I want to share with you the products I use on my body externally. These home remedies to cure a yeast infection work, but do take a little longer to kick in. I would also say that these home remedies to cure a yeast infection are more proactive than reactive. Meaning, these products will keep your body happy and healthy once you cure your yeast infection.

I cannot go without the Vagisil’s Intimate wash. As I mentioned, I am extremely sensitive to perfumes and chemicals so I have to be careful. I have been using this wash for a few years now, and I feel fresh and have zero reactions.

As I mentioned, I am a huge fan of a natural based lifestyle (when possible). Puracy is hands-down one of the best companies and top Amazon sellers for natural, chemical free products.

I use everything from their shampoo and conditioner, shower gel, and lotion to their cleaning products. Below I listed all the products that I love and use in my home and on my body.

Puracy Natural Body Wash, Sulfate-Free Bath and Shower Gel (4 / 5)$$
Puracy Natural Daily Hair Shampoo (4 / 5)$$$
Puracy Natural Conditioner (4.5 / 5)$$$
Puracy Organic Hand and Body Lotion (4.5 / 5)$$$
Vaginal pH Balance Daily Intimate Vaginal Wash (4.5 / 5)$$$
Seventh Generation Natural Laundry Detergent (4.5 / 5)$$$

Alright, let’s talk about laundry detergent. Have to ever washed your clothes with a certain detergent and felt itchy when you have put them on? I have! It wasn’t until I had my first son, that I became more aware of the products I was using in my household.

I started washing our clothes with the Seventh Generation Natural Laundry Detergent when he was born. Wow, what a difference. Especially with my underwear. No irritation, no strong perfume smells from the detergent, just pure chemical free goodness. I would highly recommend this product.

Lastly, get yourself some good old cotton underwear. Sure, cotton underwear may not be the sexiest underwear on the market, but it will definitely make sure that down south has proper ventilation.

Don’t get me wrong, I still do wear the sexy lace underwear but I know my body best. I cannot wear lace underwear all day. Eventually, my friend down south starts to get a tad irritated.

At night time, I usually sleep in loose-fitting pajamas with no underwear. It works wonders.

There you have it! Those are all my secrets to keeping a Happy V. I would love to hear about your experiences with yeast infections, and how you have dealt with them.

Together, we will conquer one yeast infection at a time 🙂
